Believe!
My Grandpa always said that the greatest gift you can ever give another human being is something to believe in. I assume this is because if someone believes, and I mean truely believes something to be true, than they will make it a reality, even if it was something that most people thought was impossible. In other words, "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he may or may not catch fish, but make a man believe that he is the greatest of fishermen, and he will prove you right." I was in Medicine Hat over the weekend and a Rural Development Symposium and I have to say there were 100 of the most motivated people I have ever seen. I always approach a speech as though it is my task to help others BELIEVE in Rural Development and BELIEVE that it will be successful. I think I was preaching to the converted. They really BELIEVE it will happen . . . and it will if it takes my last political breath. Thank you to those who have faith and hope. I know many of you said I inspired you, that I made you believe and that you have new energy, but I have to say thank you as well. Your energy, your faith and your belief in this inspires me as well. We will succeed if for no other reason than that failure is not an option.
