Blog Two - The Week the Women Went
Posted by Doug on Jun 05/07 13:46 PMIt is now very late. Today Austin didn't seem to want me to feed him and that was ok, he did eat all he needed eventually. Austin only learned to say 'momma' a little over a week ago. When I ask him where Grandpa is he points to Grandpa, when I ask him where Dadda is he points, but mostly when I asked him where 'momma' is he would look around. Ask him where Austin is and he would point as his mom, but he didn't quite get 'momma'. I think that is because he and Sue are so close that he has trouble differentiating between Austin and Momma. I think that is why kids usually say Dadda before Momma. Daddy is a person that comes and goes to work, but Momma is always there and almost, in their minds anyway, the same person. Just an observation.
Anyway, today I asked where momma is and he pointed at me and said 'momma'. I had to smile. Since that happened this morning, everything is 'momma'. Austin doesn't quite realize 'momma' is gone, but he knows he is missing something important. I do too. He had a really rough time going to sleep tonight. He wanted me to hold him all night and rock him to sleep. I don't think it is just because Sue is gone, because he did that last week too, for her, but I do think it may be a factor in why he wouldn't go to sleep.
It has been two days now and the house is still pretty clean and the dishes done, but it is now officially confirmed what I said in a members statement posted in my notes here. Sue has three full time jobs as a stay at home mom.
The days are busy so I am usually ok, but the nights are sure quiet and lonely. Five more days to go before I get to see my girl. Five more days of no calls and no goodnight kisses. At least I have Austin. She is alone with no way to even just say goodnight. I hope she knows we are ok and has some fun while she is there. Lord knows I see she deserves a break (I know that, but now I have proof!)
